Premier League football is officially back in our lives following the first set of fixtures last weekend and now, we’re really getting into the full swing of things. Every single club will have a slightly better understanding of where their squad is at and this week, we’ll be getting things underway with Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United on Friday night.
Nottingham Forest Form GuideNottingham Forest defied the expectations of many last season and were able to maintain their place in the top flight of English football. They made a parade of transfers in order to do so and somehow, their risk paid off. The dreaded second season syndrome is something they’ll obviously be concerned about but for now, their fans will want to focus on enjoying the ride.
Forest opened up the new season against last season’s big title challengers Arsenal. While they didn’t exactly look like themselves for long spells of the game, they still fought back and turned it into a real war, with the final scoreline of 2-1 (to the Gunners) highlighting how well they held their own after a poor start.
Sheffield United Form GuideAfter a short exodus to the Championship, Sheffield United are back in the big time. They’ll want to make amends for the manner in which they were relegated last time around and understandably so, given what they’d done in their inaugural season back in the top flight. Blades fans will be cautious, but at least they’re able to say they’re in the show once again.
The Blades have largely been viewed as one of the favourites to go down and although they didn’t get a point on the opening day, they did put up a fight. They lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace, but you could tell they’re going to be a handful for just about anyone.
