Two sides heading in very different directions will meet this weekend when Leicester City welcome Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brendan Rodgers’ time as manager has allowed Leicester City to maintain their status as a top club in English football - for the most part. They captured the FA Cup back in 2021 but in the last few months, a steady spiral has left many wondering whether he’s still the right man for the job.

The Foxes fell to a disappointing loss at the hands of Fulham to kickstart the year, and they only just about managed to make their way past Gillingham in the FA Cup third round. Then, in a space of four days, they were knocked out of the League Cup by Newcastle and humbled by Nottingham Forest.

Despite the departure of Graham Potter, Brighton are still looking like a team that is more than capable of qualifying for Europe. They’ve found a great blend of experience and rising stars within their squad and that alone should give cause for optimism heading into a tricky few months.

Since the turn of the year, the Seagulls have been pretty much unstoppable. They tore through Everton with a dominant 4-1 victory and then, a matter of days later, they embarrassed Middlesbrough with a 5-1 triumph in the FA Cup. Oh, and they also beat Liverpool 3-0 last week.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Ayoze Perez and James Maddison are doubts for the game. The confirmed absences, however, include James Justin, Ricardo Pereira, Ryan Bertrand, Jonny Evans and Boubakary Soumaré.

Jakub Moder and Leandro Trossard, the latter of whom has been linked with a move away, will miss out.

There’s a buzz in the air for this one with two teams willing to go for it, which is why we’re backing over 2.5 goals. The first half may not have much to offer but once the game opens up, both sides will step on the gas.
