It’s an East vs West derby in the Midlands this week as Leicester City prepare to battle Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Leicester Form GuideIt’s been a long time coming, but Brendan Rodgers has officially left his post as Leicester City manager. They had a lot of great moments with him at the helm, most notably winning the FA Cup, but it’s time to move on to pastures new. The Foxes can’t afford to take too long with this search, either, given that they are neck deep in a relegation battle.
When you analyse the evidence, it’s not hard to see why Rodgers was let go. Across their last six games, Leicester have avoided defeat in just one of them - drawing 1-1 with Brentford. Outside of that they’ve lost to Arsenal, Blackburn, Southampton, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Aston Villa Form GuideThe midtable spot that Aston Villa find themselves in will do just fine for their fans. Of course, that may all change if they start to make big moves during the summer, but we’d argue this team is in cruise control. They don’t have to worry about the bottom three and instead, they’ve got a free hit at trying to qualify for Europe. It’s a long shot, but it’s one we have to entertain.
After a dramatic 4-2 loss against Arsenal in February, Aston Villa have been on a roll. They beat Everton and Crystal Palace in back to back triumphs, earned a point away at West Ham, and then rattled off two more wins - this time over Bournemouth and Chelsea.
Latest Team NewsEvans and Praet are still fighting to find full fitness with Vestergaard, Bertrand, Justin and Tielemans all out through injury.
Villa have three absences for their visit to the King Power with Coutinho, Steer and Cash all injured.
Match PredictionThere always seems to be some kind of ripple effect when a manager leaves, especially for a club as high profile as Leicester. Their problems obviously won’t be fixed overnight but in this meeting, we do believe they’ll be able to share the spoils with Villa in a draw.
