BetConnect ReviewBetConnect is a great social betting exchange where you can find many features and make money even if you aren’t a professional. Take the £50 free bet offer and try to make them much more. BetConnect has a modern user-friendly design, covers a huge number of sports, and includes a nice set of features.
Website Review – Menus and Navigation
Clean, crisp and professional, BetConnect have designed themselves a truly excellent website. The modern looking logo is present throughout the site and it helps add a touch of class across the pages.
The same can also be said about how information appears on the screen, flying in from the edges of the screen and appearing instantly as you scroll down. Promotions feature on a moving banner on the landing page but there is nothing ‘in your face’ about anything with everything explained as concisely as possible.
Useful information can be found across the site via the top menu, explaining how various aspects of BetConnect work and it’s a good idea to give everything a read through before registering. Located on this menu is also a link to the regularly updated blog which includes some fascinating insight into upcoming sporting events or more general betting advice.
- Click the green ‘Sign Up’ button located in the top right of the screen
- Decide whether you wish to sign up as a punter or a pro. Pro customers can create their own bet requests but pay a small amount of commission while punters can only follow, copy or lay ‘Pro’ requests but they never pay commission. If you have difficulty selecting either option, try using a different browser.
- Enter your personal details and confirm that you have read and understood the terms and conditions before moving onto the next step.
- Enter your account details including a unique username and secure password.
- The final step is to insert your address and phone number in the contact details section. Once complete, click the ‘Create Account’ button to finalise your registration.
Free Bet Welcome Offer
As soon as you have registered as a punter, BetConnect will ask you if you would like to opt in to their free £50 betting credit offer. To take part simple click ‘Yes, please!’ and proceed to deposit at least £10 into your account. After this, BetConnect will hand you a £50 bonus to be used to match your first three bet requests.
The £50 limit relates to the total liability of the matched bets rather than the accepted stake. Any unused amount after making your third request will be removed. There is no wagering requirement for any profit made so anything remaining in your BetConnect account afterwards is yours to keep.
Note that this offer is only available to brand new punter accounts and cannot be used by anyone registering as a pro.
BetConnect does not cover a giant list of sports at the time of writing but they have ensured that all sports with a good following in the UK are covered. The full list includes: football, horse racing, tennis, cricket, darts, snooker, golf, and both codes of rugby, plus American football, baseball, basketball, boxing and Formula 1.
These are all sports covered by British bookmakers meaning punters will never struggle to find a place where they can back a tip. As BetConnect grow and get more customers on board we would expect to see some of the more niche European and global sports added.
If you are logged in as a punter, you will not be able to select which market you would like to back/lay, instead you will simply have to bac or lay the selections of the pros. As pros are keen to attract takers on their bets, they tend to stick to the very core markets such as match winner, over/under x goals or, in the case of horse racing, win or each way.
If a pro would like to back a market not currently offered, they can contact the support team who will review the event/market to see if it’s something they can arrange.
The fast changing nature of live sporting events means that in-play betting cannot be incorporated into the BetConnect system. Currently punters have 15 minutes in order to decide on what to do with a bet request, giving them plenty of time to carry out a little research and to find the best odds available.
It’s a more methodical way of doing betting but one which many believe can produce more in the way of profit. As live sport odds can change in a matter of seconds let alone minutes, BetConnect would have to develop a new system if they were to ever offer an effective live betting system and it is certainly not something we predict they will offer any time soon.
The beauty of BetConnect is that it allows bettors to consistently back selections at the best possible odds. BetConnect themselves will display the live odds from a wide range of bookmakers beside any bet request but users can choose to look at even more sites if they like.
To explain how this works in practice, let’s take an example. You might receive a bet request with the tip ‘London Irish to win at 3/1’. This 3/1 price will be at the upper end of the market as the professional who made the tip is likely to scour for the best odds at the time they submitted it. You would then seek a bookmaker offering London Irish to win at this 3/1 price but in case you find anything better, the extra profit will be yours to keep.
In order for this system to work, punters need to have accounts at a wide range of online bookmakers to ensure they can always get the odds stated in the bet request, if not better. This does mean there is a bit of a work to do before you get going but on the plus side, you will be placing your bets at market leading prices time after time, helping to maximise your earnings across sports.
How to Lay a bet?
How things work at BetConnect is that after logging in, users will click the BetConnect button to receive a bet request. A few seconds later the bet request will arrive, stating which event, contest or race it relates to but with the tip itself obscured. Interested in that event? Click the unlock button and then you have 15 minutes in which to copy, follow, lay or reject the bet at the stated odds.
If you think the tip given is an absolute dud or if this particular pro has been losing money (see the return on investment figure on their profile) then you may want to consider laying the bet, or in other words, betting against the outcome.
If the pro has backed Altior to win the 2:10 at Cheltenham at 6/4, you can place a £10 lay bet simply by typing £10 into the stake box and clicking the ‘Lay’ button just to the right. If Altior fails to win, you claim the entire £10 bet from the pro but should Altior win, you will have to pay him £15.
The amount you stand to lose should the pro get it right is stated as the ‘liability’ figure which is clearly visible every time you bet. In most cases the maximum liability is the stake multiplied by the fractional odds.
How to follow a bet request?
The professional bettors operating at BetConnect are willing to put their money where their mouth is in relation to their tips and many really know what they are doing. Some are likely to have been barred or restricted by traditional bookmakers because they have ended up winning too often. BetConnect is therefore a safe haven for them to place their bets but to take part they must share their recommendations with BetConnect punters.
Whenever you like the look of the latest pro tip, which should be the case more often than not, you will want to follow the bet request.
Let’s say that in this instance the tip is Roger Federer to win at 3/1 and the requested stake is £10.
In order to follow the bet request, you would head to a bookmaker offering at least 3/1 on Federer to win and match the requested stake of £10 as well as adding your own stake, perhaps another £10 (£20 total). You would then return to BetConnect enter £10 as the stake and click ‘Match’. Your BetConnect account will then be deducted £30 to cover the total liability of the matched bet request (£10 x 3/1).
If Federer loses, you lose the £20 placed at the bookmaker but the £30 liability from your BetConnect account is returned, plus you receive the pro’s £10 losing bet.
So in this instance, your financials would read thus: Bookmaker account -£20. BetConnect account +£10 = Overall loss £10
If Federer wins, on the other hand, you would scoop £60 profit at the bookmakers (or more if you found greater than 3/1 odds) but the liability is kept by BetConnect in order to pay the pro his winnings.
Once again, to illustrate this: Bookmaker account +£60. BetConnect account -£30. Overall profit £30.
Betconnect Mobile app
BetConnect first published their Android app in the Google Play Store in January 2019 while the iOS app debuted in the App Store a few months later. Both relatively new apps, user feedback on them is in incredibly short supply but do not let the lack of ratings put you off trying BetConnect out.
We gave the dedicated mobile apps a thorough testing and found no real issues to speak of. Players operating on the move will enjoy the same functionality they get with the desktop site as well as the sleek and clutter-free design.
As with many apps in their infancy, you may discover a couple of minor problems here and there which still need ironing out by the technical team. There is nothing we spotted that would have a significant impact on your experience though, so we can full recommend either app over simply accessing the site via their mobile browser. If you are not yet fully convinced, remember that BetConnect does occasionally offer app-exclusive promotions.

Security and Regulation
All liabilities between the punters and pros are securely held until settlement as per the regulations set out by the UK Gambling Commission. The Gambling Commission is one of the most respected regulatory and licensing bodies in the world so this also provides a fair degree of reassurance.
Keen to attract even more customers, BetConnect operate an affiliate program which anyone can apply to. Simply fill in the application form and wait to see if you are accepted. If joining the team, you will be provided with all the help you need to spread the BetConnect brand.
How to verify my account?
At any time, BetConnect may ask you to verify your identity and/or verify the source of your funds. If the former, you will need to send in a copy of your passport, driving licence, ID Card and/or a document confirming your address, for instance a utility bill or bank statement. To verify your funds, BetConnect can ask for information such as your occupation and salary, supported by documentation e.g. a payslip. BetConnect will never contact your employer as part of these checks and most customers will not be required to provide this information.
What to do if I forgot my password?
After clicking the ‘sign in’ button, select ‘Forgot Password?’ towards the bottom of the page. Enter your email address to receive a link allowing you to reset your password.
Should I choose a pro or punter account?
Pro accounts are primarily targeted at large stakes players (or syndicates) who perhaps feel unwelcome at traditional bookmakers. BetConnect are happy when the pros win big because they are not paying them out of their own pocket and this means no stake limits, no account closures and no restrictions. Punter accounts are more suited towards less experienced gamblers who are keen to be guided by the advice of the professionals.
Can I have both a pro and punter account?
Yes, BetConnect allow all customers to create both a pro and punter account but you will need to use a different email address for each.
How does BetConnect make money?
BetConnect charges pro players a small amount of commission on their stakes (not winnings), 1% for football and 2% for other sports. Pros do however receive 0% commission during their first 31 days and can take advantage of 0% monthly offers relating to specific sports. Additionally, commissions are never paid on lay bets.
Do you accept players that live outside the UK?
As BetConnect currently only has a license to operate within the United Kingdom, they cannot accept any registrations from players living elsewhere. They can also only accept payments from bank accounts registered in the UK. BetConnect do however hope to expand to other territories in the near future.
Can I reject as many unlocked bets as I like?
Rejecting bet requests is an option all punters have available to them but it does impact their rating and is not something they should do very regularly. By clicking on your profile, you can see what your overall rating is out of a maximum of 1000. The score is calculated on the number of bet requests matched, the number of full-stake requests matched and amount of requests rejected.
Which bookmaker does BetConnect show odds for?
BetConnect will reveal the live odds from the following bookies for each bet request: Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, BetVictor, Betway, Boyle Sports, Coral, Paddy Power, Sky Bet, Unibet and William Hill. Players can choose to filter out any of these options should they desire, useful if you don’t have accounts with all of them.
Can I change the kind of bet request I receive?
Yes, punters can select the maximum liability range they want per bet, the maximum odds and whether or not they wish to receive each way tips. There is also the option to hide or show any tips that feature odds shorter than 1.50 (1/2).
How do I know if the pro providing the tip is any good?
When handed a bet request, BetConnect tells you who the request is from as well as some key information about them. As the punter you can view how many weeks the pro has won/lost (or rather made a profit/loss) and their overall return on investment. If the punter has bet £1000 in total and has gotten £1200 back, this would be a 20% ROI. If however they only got £500 back, they would have a -50% ROI.
Not a fan of a particular pro?
You have the option of blocking all their bet requests by clicking the red crossed circle on their pro card.
Exchange betting began to take off in the early 2000s but despite being late to the game, BetConnect have rapidly made up for lost time. The newly formed company achieved their first £1m in monthly matched bets faster than any exchange in history. Not only that but in October 2019 they successfully reached £2m in monthly matched bets, reinforcing their reputation as the fastest growing betting platform in the United Kingdom.
The peer-to-peer aspect of transactions at BetConnect mirrors a typical betting exchange but there is more to it than that. The world’s first social betting network allows regular punters to have access to the bets professionals are placing their money on. In return, the pros, who might be unable to place bets directly with the bookmakers as they have been too profitable, now have a way of making their wagers. It’s a fascinating concept and one in which punter and pros can work together in order to secure a profit.
Others certainly saw the potential of the company and BetConnect managed to raise £1.2m in funding in August 2019. This money will be used to accelerate growth on a platform billed as the biggest industry innovation since Betfair.
Customer support and contacts
Located in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, the blue speech bubble icon will allow you to quickly send a question to the customer support team. Typically a member of the team will reply within five minutes during working hours. Alternatively you can send an email to email@example.com.
Rating & Conclusion
For those of you confused by how BetConnect works, we hope that you have a far greater understanding after reading this review. It can take a little time to wrap your head around the concept but once things become clear you see what a truly ingenious idea this is.
Truly one of a kind, BetConnect are the pioneers of this social betting exchange and it’s a concept we can only see becoming more and more popular among both casual and professional gamblers. It is rare to see real innovation but that’s exactly what we have here.
The pros can place bets here knowing that BetConnect actually wants them to win and will not kick them out because they are too successful. The punters on the other hand suddenly have access to a wide range of expert tips and they can ensure they are backing selections at a good price.
Savvy bettors can also simply copy tips, ensuring they never lose any money but allowing them to benefit from various bookmaker promotions. It is a little extra effort for users who also lack the freedom to place whatever bets they want but we believe your chance of hitting a profit will be higher here.
The only real downside we can see is that you may suffer from having your account closed if your bets prove too successful. Mind you, with lots of bookies to go at, you can probably afford for that to happen, especially if you keep hitting the winners!
It might not be something for you but given their wonderful £50 free bet offer, we cannot see any reason whatsoever not to try BetConnect out.
